Cooking Instructions
Our Smoked Ham and Turkeys are fully cooked and ready to eat, best served at room temperature or gently reheated.
To serve warm: If frozen, thaw in the refrigerator. Remove packaging, place on a rack in a pan with a little water, cover with foil and bake at 325°F. For turkey, bake for 12 minutes per pound until the internal temperature reaches 135°F, basting occasionally and uncovering three-quarters through for browning. For ham, bake for 14-15 minutes per pound until 135°F, basting occasionally and uncovering three-quarters through for browning. Let rest for 10 minutes before serving.
Storage
Promptly refrigerate or freeze upon receiving.
Refrigerate: Unopened and stored in their original packaging, smoked turkey and ham will retain their best quality for 2-3 weeks. Once opened, use it within 5-7 days. Wrap turkey and ham tightly in plastic wrap or store it in an airtight container.
Freeze: To freeze a whole smoked turkey and ham leave them in their original packaging or wrap it tightly in plastic wrap, followed by aluminum foil, or place it in a heavy-duty freezer bag. For the best flavor and texture, limit freezing to 4-6 months. To thaw plan for 2-3 days in the refrigerator for whole turkey and 1-2 days for turkey breasts before you heat or serve.
Leftovers: Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator and consume them within 3-4 days. For longer storage, freeze leftovers in airtight containers or freezer bags. Use within 1-2 months for the best quality.
Frequently Asked Questions
-
What are the differences between Bone-In and Boneless Ham?
Bone-in ham has a richer flavor and juicier texture but requires more carving and longer cooking. Boneless ham is easier to handle, slice, and cooks faster, though it has a milder flavor.
-
How is smoked turkey different from roasted turkey?
Smoked turkey is cooked using smoke, which gives it a distinct smoky flavor, while roasted turkey is cooked in an oven. Smoking typically results in a more moist and flavorful turkey.
-
Is smoked turkey as easy as people say it is to prepare and serve?
Smoked turkey requires little to no effort, tastes delicious, and can be enjoyed hot or cold. Most importantly, the low-maintenance prep schedule frees up oven space for more pie.
